Maurice F. Fisher
Maurice F. Fisher, 91, Corydon, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at his home.
Born April 5, 1928, at Corydon, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Mary Eva Gay Frederick Fisher.
He was retired for 33 years after owning and operating Fisher’s Body Shop Inc. for 30 years. He served as an Army Air Corps MP during World War II. He was a member of Old State Capitol VFW Post No. 2950, Hoosier Knobs Car Club, a 52- year member of Harrison County Board of Health, was a founding member of the Chamber of Commerce of Harrison County and a 50-year member of Crandall Masonic Lodge No. 591 F&AM, York Rite and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis 32nd degree. He served on the Harrison Township Advisory Board for 30 years and was a long-standing member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter J. Fisher and Guy Edward Fisher, and six sisters, Mary K. Stumler, Eva Libs, Mildred Stiller, Neva Stiller, Phyllis Fouts and Alice Fisher.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, the former Elenora May Arnold; three daughters, Pamela Sue Newton of Corydon, Mary Ruth Cassady of New Port Richey, Fla., and Anna Marie Fisher, MD of Lanesville; a brother, Edmond Fisher of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia Armstrong of Palmyra and Sharon Stiner (Jerry) of Corydon; four grandchildren, Jonathan Diedrich, Jessica Cromer, Rachael Stephenson and Eric Stephenson; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Hayden and Gracie Hoehn.
Visitation: Monday, Nov. 4, from 3 to 8 p.m., with Masonic rites at 7, and Tuesday, Nov. 5, after 9 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Hursttown Cemetery north of Corydon.
