Lionel Violette, 95, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at Lincoln Hills Healthcare in New Albany.
Born July 24, 1924, in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Le’Vite and Flavie Albert Violette.
He was an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corps, a veteran of World War II, an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service and a member of St Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cecile Michaud Violette.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Violette of Floyds Knobs, James Violette of Lavallette, N.J., and David Violette of Belle Mead, N.J.; a daughter, Jean Bell of Mountain View, Calif.; a brother, Alex Violette of Augusta, Maine; a sister, Audie Lambet of Sebring, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jason, Kristofer, Danielle, Jacqueline and Michael; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Memorial service: Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
