Hardinsburg woman dies in crash
A Hardinsburg woman died last Wednesday after succumbing to injuries sustained in a wreck on S.R. 64 west of Depauw.
According to a Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. crash report, Judy Roberson, 79, was traveling east on S.R. 64 in a red Honda Fit at approximately 2:06 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, striking a rock wall on the south side of the road more than once before the vehicle rolled.
Roberson, who was not wearing a safety restraint, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained a severe head injury, according to the crash report. She succumbed to her injuries after medics had placed her in the ambulance.
A witness told officer Jeremy Ranke, who investigated the crash, that Roberson’s vehicle had passed him at a high rate of speed and appeared to be losing control of the vehicle as it went around a curve.
The witness said he doubled back to check if the vehicle crashed and found Roberson in the roadway with her vehicle upside down.
