Helen L. Gerdon
Helen L. Gerdon, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born Jan. 28, 1934, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Irene Rainbolt Messmer.
She retired after 30 years from Walmart in Corydon and was a member of Perseverance Chapel United Methodist Church near Corydon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gerdon; two grandsons, Joshua and Adam Kinser; and four brothers, Gerald, John, Irvin and Roger Messmer.
Survivors include a son, Tim Gerdon (Sharon); four daughters, Kim Crawhorn (Tony), Karen Kinser (Terry), Lori Spurlock (John) and Carol Martin, all of Corydon; a brother, Curtis Messmer (Gloria) of Lanesville; a sister, Phyllis Buttrum (George) of Valrico, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, Shelby Crawhorn, Kacy Wilkerson, Ashley and Jacob Crawhorn, Nathan and Tara Kinser, Kenny and Lelia Gerdon, Jeremy and Andy Hibbs, Jessi Paris, Christie Hardin, Elijah Martin and Jordan Lynton; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Oct. 11, from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 12, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Perseverance Chapel Cemetery south of Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Perseverance Chapel Cemetery Fund.
