Wallace (Aaron) Shewmaker, 86, Elizabeth, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Harrison’s Crossing Assisted Living Facility in Terre Haute.
Born July 4, 1933, in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Dave and Gail Shewmaker.
He was an Army veteran with active service during the Korean War and a retired member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841 in Terre Haute and of the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters & Service Technicians Local 502 in Louisville, Ky.
He deeply loved his wife, Leanna, of 56 years as well as his daughter, Suzette, and son, Tom.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Leanna Evon; a daughter, Suzette Twiggs (Jim); three granddaughters, Taylor Twiggs, Sydney Twiggs and Arin Shewmaker; a sister, Hazel Bugher; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 20, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
