Larry G. Wernert
Larry Gene Wernert, 74, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.
Born Dec. 12, 1944, at Hancock Chapel, he was the son of the late Arthur and Viola Davis Wernert.
He was an independent contractor in residential construction and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany and Gideons International, where he was serving as the Indiana state chaplain.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death were two brothers, Dwight and Lawrence Wernert, and a sister, Geneva Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis A. Wernert of Ramsey; two sons, Larry Wernert of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Matthew Wernert of Ramsey; three daughters, MaDonna Jones (Scott), Cindy Fleace and Rebecca Craig (Ronnie), all of Ramsey; three brothers, Melvin Wernert (Pat) of Ramsey, Merle Wernert (Licia) of New Albany and Mark Wernert (Gayle) of Palmyra; a brother-in-law, Jack Jones of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Susie Wernert of Corydon; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Aug. 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany with burial in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery near Lanesville.
