Carl F. Snyder
Carl F. Snyder, 86, Ramsey, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Golden Guardians Elder Care in Corydon.
Born May 8, 1933, in Central, he was the son of the late Alva and Aldine Reed Snyder.
He was an Air Force veteran, was retired from L&N and CSX railroads after working for 30 years as a manager of labor relations, was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. reserves, was a past president of the Indian Creek Trail, was a past president and life member of the Greater Louisville Bowling Association and a volunteer for many local organizations, including the Tindall School, the old Gerdon Youth Center, the Corydon Jamboree, Repair Affair, Habitat for Humanity, building shelter houses at Hayswood Nature Reserve and various mission trips.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Mann and Sherley Snyder Watson, and a brother, Cuba Snyder.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Elaine J. Shepherd; a son, Marty Snyder of Corydon; a daughter, Carla Clunie (Dennis) of Corydon; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 13, after 8 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery near Laconia.
Officiant: The Rev. Douglas Finney.
Pallbearers: Brian and David Peters, Christi Peters Reed, Josh Reed, Blake Clunie and Jeff Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers: Bill Gerdon and Chad Clunie.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Harrison County veterans.
