Pease tackles 10k at USATF Championships

The best track and field athletes in the country gathered in Des Moines, Iowa, last week for the USA Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium.
South Central Junior-Senior High School alum Sarah Pease competed on opening night, July 25, in the 10,000-meter run. The field of distance runners took to the next-to-last event of the day.
Pease pushed her way to 14th place at one point in the event. At the finish line, Pease placed 16th with a time of 33 minutes, 59.82 seconds.
Residing in Bloomington, Pease is a volunteer coach for her alma mater, Indiana University.
The event winner was decorated distance runner Molly Huddle. She won the 10k for the fifth straight time, completing the race in 31:58.47. It was her 28th national title since 2008.
From the 10k, Huddle will be joined with runner-up Emily Sisson (32:02.19) and fifth-place finisher Marielle Hall as USA representatives at the IAAF World Championships, in September, in Doha, Qatar.
