SC’s Tyree named baseball All-state honorable mention
South Central’s Austin Tyree was recently selected as a Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association All-state performer.
In Class 1A, Tyree was named honorable mention as a member of the Rebels’ squad that won a sectional title.
At the plate, the infielder/catcher hit for a .406 average, collecting 39 hits. Tyree drove in 37 runs in his junior season while scoring 25 times. He clubbed seven doubles, drew 10 walks and stole 22 bases.
The Class 1A All-state team featured Braydon Bush (Rising Sun), Matt Alter (Indianapolis Lutheran), Sean Miller (Hauser), Garrett Lawson (Riverton Parke), Peyton Smith (Daleville), Grant Buschman (North White), Kyle Schmack (South Central Union Mills), Josh Price (Daleville), Payton Dennison (Rossville) and Carson Husmann (South Central Union Mills).
Other area notables named All-state were Snyder Pennington (Eastern Pekin, 2A, First team), Tyler Kapust (Silver Creek, 3A, first team), Holden Groher (Silver Creek, 3A, honorable mention), Dylan Whitt (Silver Creek, 3A, honorable mention), Steven Thom (New Albany, 4A, first team), Blayden McMahel (Jeffersonville, 4A, first team), Cooper Biven (New Albany, 4A, honorable mention) and Jack Ellis (Jeffersonville, 4A, honorable mention).
