Betty G. Sharp, 85, Silver Spring, Md., died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at her home.
Born June 29, 1933, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. Gehlbach and Mary Mildred Byrne Gehlbach.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles W. Sharp.
She graduated from Corydon High School in 1951, where she was a member of the marching band. She attended both Indiana Central College (now University of Indianapolis) and graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in nursing. She worked for several years in nursing, including at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and, after spending several years caring for her children, went back into nursing, working in women’s health and in private practice in Silver Spring, Md., and sang in several groups, including Sweet Adelines acapella group of Olney, Md.
Survivors include two sons, Steven (Siobhan) and Jack (Susan); four grandchildren, Audrey, Caroline, Benjamin and Audrheana; and a brother, Robert B. Gehlbach (Wanda).
Celebration of Life: Saturday, June 29, from noon to 3 p.m. at Pfrimmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church east of Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the National Audubon Society, the Make a Wish Foundation or Doctors Without Borders.
