Lawrence M. Mayfield

Lawrence Monroe Mayfield, 98, Floyds Knobs, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
Born April 17, 1921, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Pearl Wilson Mayfield.
He was a World War II Army veteran, retired from Hoosier Panel Co. in New Albany as assistant foreman and was a member of Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Georgetown, where he served as an elder for more than 50 years, and VFW Post 3281 in New Albany.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence M. Mayfield Jr., and a son-in-law, Ronald Zink.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, the former Julia Marie Long; a daughter, Sue Ann Zink of Corydon; two grandchildren, Ronald Leroy Zink Jr. (Jennifer) of Corydon and Kathleen Davis (Michael) of Bloomington; and three great-grandchildren, Seth, Madeline and Oliver.
Visitation: Thursday, May 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown and Friday, May 3, after 10 a.m. at Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Georgetown.
Funeral: Friday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Becky Gibbons.
