Darrell Delano Hisey, 86, Chattanooga, Tenn., died Thursday, April 11, 2019, after a two-year battle with an illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1932, in New Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Jesse Alvin Hisey and Zola Sherrill Hisey.
He served in the Air Force as an air policeman from 1951 to 1955, serving in North Africa during the Korean conflict. In 1964, he and his wife relocated from Indiana to Chattanooga, where he was employed as a company internal auditor for American General Finance. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, serving as its treasurer for several years, and was involved in the Derby Downs HOA, serving as past board president.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Mangles and Frieda Barks Ruhlow; a brother, Edgar Hisey; and an infant brother, Clifford Hisey.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Cathern (Cathy) Gleitz; a son, Steven Kent Hisey (Imogene); two daughters, Lisa Kaye Hisey Cappetto (Daniel) and Linda Dee Hisey; two grandsons, Matthew Thomas Hisey (Michelle) and Barrett Daniel Cappetto; two great-grandsons, Macon Luke Hisey and Maddox Samson Hisey; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Brooke Hisey and Skylar Mechelle Vaughn-Hisey; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, April 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Chattanooga and Monday, April 15, after 10 a.m. at St. John United Methodist Church in Chattanooga.
Funeral: Monday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at the church with interment in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Officiants: Pastor Carl Blackburn, Dr. Bill Owens, Pastor Stephen McAfee and Pastor Chris Kaste.
Pallbearers: Matthew Thomas Hisey, Barrett Daniel Cappetto, Nick Hayes, Harry Mansfield Jr., Ron Smith and Walt Willis.
