Lucy Thomas Board Shacklett, 90, Brandenburg, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Brandenburg Nursing and Rehab.
Born April 19, 1928, in Brandenburg, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Lucy Bell Blake Board.
She earned two degrees at Indiana University, worked as a clerk at the Army/Air Force exchange in Charlestown for many years, was a teacher in Hammond, spent time as a clerk at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon and was a member of the Rineyville (Ky.) Baptist Church,
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Redden, and a brother-in-law, Niles Redden.
Survivors include four children, James Shacklett (Brenda) , Jack Shacklett (Rose) and Jerry Shacklett (Ruth Ann), all of Vine Grove, Ky., and John Shacklett (Kathy) of Battletown, Ky.; 12 grandchildren, Dan Shacklett (Stephanie), Cindy Jurist (Justin), Sarai Shacklett, James Shacklett (Eileen), Faith Shacklett, Ben Shacklett, Rachel Shacklett, Heather Dowell (Brandon), Jason Shacklett, Matt Barr (Jennifer), Kara Barr and Mitchell Barr (Jessica); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT and Monday, April 15, after 10 a.m. at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg.
Funeral: Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m. EDT at the funeral home with burial in Evans Landing Cemetery.
