Rebecca P. Hellams

Rebecca Pierce Hellams, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.
Born Feb. 13, 1952, in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Helen S. Streepey.
She was a retired teacher and social caseworker. She graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in advertising and minor in sociology, in 1975. She continued her education at Spalding University and Indiana University Southeast. She taught at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce D. Hellams, and a sister, Ellen Elizabeth Streepey.
Survivors include two siblings Robert S. Streepey (Kathy) and Kathy S. Katz (Stuart); two nephews, Jeremy (Tad) Streepey and Stoy Streepey; a niece, Sarah Katz; and four great-nephews and great-nieces, Stoy, Teague, Finley and Hayley.
Visitation: Saturday, April 13, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Carriage House of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany.
Funeral Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
