Cleo L. Mertz

Cleo L. Mertz, 74, Elizabeth, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at University Hospital in Louisville.
Born June 20, 1944, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Raymond R. and Mary Nell Jarrell Lucas.
She was a Realtor, involved in the Harrison County Relay for Life and a member of the Palmyra Lions Club, the Red Hat Ladies and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Pop) Mertz.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Conder of Austin, Texas, and Richard L. and Tod D. Mertz, both of Shepherdsville, Ky.; two daughters, Nina Atherton of Shepherdsville and Toni Greanias of Louisville; a brother, Buzz Lucas of Beauford, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Nell Griste of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Anita Schellenberger of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Mass of Christian burial: Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford with burial in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery near Elizabeth.
Officiant: Father John Fink.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
