David L. Reed
David L. Reed, 78, Corydon, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at Rural Health Care in Indianapolis.
Born April 16, 1940, in New Albany, he was the oldest son of the late Henry Lewis Reed and Roberta Dodds Reed.
He served four years in the Marine Corps; was a skilled plumber and electrician and was self-employed for a number of years; was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon; was a member for more than 35 years of the Old Capitol Aerie No. 2794 Fraternal Order of Eagles in Corydon, having served two terms as president and served as a district director for the Eagles for many years; and was currently a member of the Jeffersonville Aerie No. 1527 Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Lowe, and a brother-in-law, David Rehbein.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Diane J. Wieczorek; a daughter, Theresa Wise (Mitchell) of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; four grandchildren, James Wise of Corydon, Michelle Lowe of Louisville, Angel Crone (Evan) of Indianapolis and Russell Smith of Seoul, South Korea; and two sisters, Judy Kemp (Jerry) of Boonville and Pamela Hunchman of Lexington, Ky.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and Saturday, Dec. 29, after 8 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. at the church with burial in the Central Cemetery.
Celebrant: Father Louis Manna.
