Paul J. Walther
Paul J. (P.J.) Walther, 85, Owensville, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. at Todd-Dickey Nursing & Rehabilitation in Leavenworth.
Born April 27, 1933, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Edmund and Loretta Baumgart Walther.
He was an Army veteran, a corporal, who served in the Korean War, was employed with Public Service Indiana/Cinergy/Duke Energy for 32 years, beginning at the Gallagher Station plant in New Albany, and was the administrative services supervisor for the Gibson Station Plant in Gibson County. He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Owensville, served the United Way of Gibson County for many years and was president of the Gibson County chapter for some time. After retirement, he repaired and sold lawnmowers and other small engines.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille and Lois Clubb Wisman.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Vivian J. Carver; a brother, Alvin Walther of Lanesville; four children, Paul Mark Walther (Roxanna) and Jason Walther (Alicia), both of Owensville, Neal Walther (Debra) of San Antonio and Jennifer Walther Kieffer of Ferdinand; four grandchildren, Sarah Walther, Jacob Walther, Ryan Kieffer and Amanda Hipshire; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 14, after 9 a.m. at Holder’s Funeral Home in Owensville.
Funeral: Friday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment, and military honors, in Owensville Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Tammy Scheller.
Flowers are welcome, and the family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association or a dementia organization or charity of the donor’s choice.
