Beatrice Florence Vertrees, 83, Corydon, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Indian Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
Born Feb. 7, 1935, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie McCullum Damon.
She previously worked at Corydon Elementary School in the cafeteria, was a ward clerk at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, was a secretary at Farm Bureau Insurance in Corydon, where she also served as editor of the Farm News publication, was a preschool teacher at Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany and was a member of Lincoln Hills Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Corydon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Overton Jr., and two brothers, John and Keith Damon.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda C. Olcott and Jan J. Crosby, both of Corydon; a brother, Loren Damon (Mary) of Corydon; two sisters, Ruth Smith (Lloyd) of Georgetown and Leona Burres (Ronald) of New Albany; and a granddaughter, Alyson N. Bowles (Alex).
Visitation: Sunday, Dec. 2, from noon to 2 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Memorial service: Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Webster Oglesby.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Lincoln Hills Christian Church in Corydon.
