Charles F. Best
Charles Franklin Best, 94, Elizabeth, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany.
Born Aug. 13, 1924, in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Harold and Elsie Saddler Best.
He was retired from the Indiana Dept. of Transportation, was a farmer, was formerly employed with Bob Grant’s Concrete in New Albany, was a member of the Hornickel Post No. 379 American Legion in Elizabeth and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Martha Frances Lindell.
Survivors include four daughters, Dianne Kitchens (Bill) and Brenda Hanger, both of New Albany, Patti Best of Elizabeth and Norma Ferree (Donnie) of Laconia; two brothers, Kenneth Best (Kathryn) of Elizabeth and Dallas Best (Kathy) of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Stacy Midkiff-Gillman (Jay), Melinda Luther (Mike), Rodney Hanger Jr., Ashley Best, Macy Ferree Gleitz (Jacob), Megan Ferree Janusz (Houston) and Ryan Ferree; and nine great-grandchildren, Coley Gillman, Brooklynn Gillman, Ashton Hanger, Kiara Luther, Kallee Luther, Madison Hanger, Allyssa Hanger, Emersyn Gleitz and Adaline Janusz.
Visitation: Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m at the funeral home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
Officiant: Tyler Best.
Pallbearers: Greg, Willie and John Best, David Ferree, Chuck Sheets and Rodney Hanger Jr.
