The Corydon Central campus will be buzzing Friday night and most of the day Saturday when the annual Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Battle at the First Capital girls’ basketball tournament returns.
The eight-team event ” which features local squads Corydon Central (1-0), Crawford County (0-1) and Lanesville (2-0) ” will take place in the junior high and high school gyms at Corydon Central. Other teams joining the battle are South Dearborn (0-1), North Central (Farmersburg) (1-0), Northeast Dubois (0-1), Providence (0-0) and Tell City (1-1).
Opening the tournament in the high school gym will be Lanesville taking on Crawford County at 6 p.m. on Friday. That contest will be followed by Corydon Central battling North Central at approximately 8.
The second round and consolations will continue Saturday with games slated for 10 a.m. and noon. The placement rounds will take place later Saturday with tip times of 5:30 and 7:30.
Admission is $5 for each session (three total sessions, gym will be cleared between sessions on Saturday) or all-session passes will be available for purchase on Friday for $12. All spectators should enter through door No. 13.
The tournament bracket is as follows:
Friday: Game 1 ” South Dearborn vs. Northeast Dubois, 6 p.m. (junior high gym); Game 2 ” Lanesville vs. Crawford County, 6 p.m. (high school gym); Game 3 ” North Central (Farmersburg) vs. Corydon Central, 8 p.m. (high school gym); Game 4 ” Tell City vs. Providence, 8 p.m. (junior high gym).
Saturday: Game 5 ” Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 10 a.m. (junior high gym); Game 6 ” Game 3 loser vs. Game 4 loser, noon (junior high gym); Game 7 ” Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 10 a.m. (high school gym); Game 8 ” Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, noon (high school gym); Game 9 (seventh-place game) ” Game 5 loser vs. Game 6 loser, 5:30 p.m. (junior high gym); Game 10 (third-place game) ” Game 7 loser vs. Game 8 loser, 7:30 p.m. (junior high gym); Game 11 (fifth-place game) ” Game 5 winner vs. Game 6 winner, 5:30 p.m. (high school gym); Game 12 (championship) ” Game 7 winner vs. Game 8 winner, 7:30 p.m. (high school gym).
