HC school board members unchallenged
All of the incumbents for school board seats in Harrison County’s three public school corporations will serve another four-year term. That’s because no one else signed up by last Friday’s noon deadline to have their name on the General Election ballot in November.
For the four seats up for election on the South Harrison Community School Corp. board, Karen S. Lopp and Mary J. Mathes are the only candidates for two seats representing Harrison Township (District 4). Diana K. Sailor and Barbara Smith both filed for re-election in District 1 (Heth Township) and 5 (Webster Township), respectively. The remaining three school board seats, currently held by Larry Hauswald, Shelly Romero and Mindy Wibbels, will be on the ballot in 2020.
In the North Harrison Community School Corp., Marla J. Adams (Jackson Township), Steve Hanger (Spencer Township) and Veronica Sieg Battista (at-large) are the only candidates. The two other seats will be on the ballot in two years; incumbents are Kerry Ingle and Gregg Oppel.
Margaret E. Meyer and Ronald J. Wolfe filed to retain their at-large seats on the Lanesville Community School Corp. board. The remaining three at-large seats, held by Chan Bailey, Sharon Rothrock and Robert (Bob) Schickel, will be up for grabs in 2020.
