Herbert L. Rhoads
Herbert L. Rhoads, 95, Clarksville, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
Born June 26, 1923, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Wylie Herbert and Minnie Elizabeth Frakes Rhoads.
He graduated from Corydon High School and the University of Louisville, was an Army veteran of World War II, was retired from CSX Railroad (formerly L&N Railroad), was a farmer, was a member of the Methodist faith and the Sellersburg American Legion Post No. 204 and was a past commander of the VFW Post 2950 in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, the former Beulah M. Curts; a son, Dale K. Rhoads; a grandson, Cody Benjamin Rhoads; three brothers, Alonzo, Russell and Francis Rhoads; and four sisters, Ethelda Orme, Catherine Frakes, Ruth Mathes and Margie Longacre.
Survivors include three grandsons, Jeff Rhoads, Eric Shaughnessy (Stefanie) and Adam Rhoads (Tamara); five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Carson and Tessa Rhoads and Garrett and Liam Shaughnessy; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 14, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Perseverance Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Andy Hansen.
Pallbearers: Eric Shaughnessy and Jeff, Adam, Les, Donn, Michael and Matthew Rhoads.
