Pease 8th at USATF Outdoor Championships

Sarah Pease made her 10th appearance at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships with a closing finish in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday.
Held at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, Pease sat in 11th place through the first half of the final. Passing competitors late, Pease came to the finish line in 9:57.58, good for eighth place.
The top overall finisher was 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Emma Coburn, who completed the steeple in 9:17.70. Coburn, the American record holder in the steeple, was the 2017 World Champion.
Pease, sponsored by rabbit, went under the 10-minute mark in the prelims, which took place Thursday. The South Central Junior-Senior High School and Indiana University grad went in 9:59.58 to snag a qualifying spot by finishing fourth in her heat.
Going into the Championships, Pease handily won the Louisville Triple Crown of Running in the spring.
