Ralph (Jake) Hanger

Ralph (Jake) Hanger, 98, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born March 23, 1920, in Depauw, he was the son of the late Earl and Emma Green Hanger.
He was a former teacher, principal, superintendent and coach in the Crawford County Community School Corp.; a long-time member of the Marengo American Legion Post 84 and held the office of treasurer for many years; a member of the Retired Teachers Association; the original owner of Hanger Painting; a long-time member and elder of Marengo Christian Church; former clerk and treasurer for the Town of Marengo for many years; and an Army Air Force veteran who served in the Aleutian Islands and in Alaska.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, the former Vivian McMahel and the former Rita Johnson, and two siblings, Helen Pitman and Dorothy Seacat.
Survivors include three children, Steve Hanger (Lou Ann), Jerry Hanger (Laura) and Jayne Presley (Lonnie); two step-children, Karen Gomez (Mark) and Doug Johnson (Cheryl); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.
Visitation: Friday, June 22, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 23, after 9 a.m. at Marengo Christian Church.
Funeral: Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in the Marengo Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Mike Gillespie.
Arrangements: Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo.
