Franz J. Felten
Franz Joseph Felten, 82, Corydon, died Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Born Jan. 15, 1936, in Louisville, he was the son of the late William and Hedwig Zoeller Felten.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean era, earned a B.A. from Bellarmine College in Louisville in 1963 and a master’s degree with a math endorsement from Indiana University, retired from teaching in 2000 from North Harrison High School, farmed and was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, the Knights of Columbus No. 1808 Council and the National Rifle Association.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Michael Karl Felten.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Martha Hornung; five sons, John Joseph Felten of Thrapston, England, William Charles Felten (Amanda) of New Salisbury, Frederick Franz Felten (Jennifer) of Thousand Oaks, Calif., James Martin Felten (Carmen) of Corydon and Albert Edward Felten (Vanessa) of Lafayette; four daughters, Mary Arkless (Christopher) of Aberdeen, Scotland, Carol Ann Wright of Hastings, Fla., Rose Kleindl (Paul) of Lebanon and Catherine Josephine Felten of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, John James Felten (Catherine) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two sisters, Marie Parker of Indianapolis and Rosemary Clark (Russell) of Georgetown; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30, and Friday, June 15, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville with burial in the church cemetery.
Celebrant: Father Bob St. Martin.
