George E. Morgan, 82, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
Born June 10, 1935, in Hardinsburg, he was the son of the late Lee and Ida Belden Morgan.
He was a graduate of Milltown High School, served in the Navy, retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in 1999 after 30 years as a dispatcher and was a member of Milltown Christian Church and the VFW of Corydon. He served on the Palmyra Town Council from 2001 to 2008, serving as president and helping to implement the Palmyra Senior Center and the Palmyra branch of the Harrison County Public Library and served on the River Hills Board.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Ayres; two sons, Alan in 1979 and Bryan in 2000; a brother, Palmer Morgan; and a sister, Joyce Ann Morgan.
Survivors include a daughter, Merri Haub (Richard) of Palmyra; two grandsons, Wesley and Trevor Haub, both of Palmyra; and a brother, Mickey Morgan (Mary) of Vine Grove, Ky.
Visitation: Monday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 27, after 10 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.
Funeral: Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Central Barren Cemetery.
