Jesse Jerome Saltsgaver, 81, Leavenworth, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018.
Born Jan. 7, 1937, he was the son of the late Raymond and Esther Lahue Saltsgaver.
He served in the Army for four years, three of those years in Germany; started a construction company in 1969; served in many capacities at his church, including teaching Sunday school; and attended Marengo Pilgrim Holiness Church at the time of his death.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Jr.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Rachel Phylis Sheckells; five children, David (Veneshia), Pam Langley (Barry), Timothy (Dawn), Nevin (Karen) and Jerry (Julie); three brothers, John, Bobby ‘Buck’ and Joe; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Jessica, Dustin, Wyatt, Nevin II, Andrew, Dylan, Jacob and Rachel; 12 great-grandchildren, Timothy, Abby, Matthew, Jesse, Nicolas, Peyton, Emmalee, Jevan, Hudson, Carter, Haidlynn and Aubrey; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 18, from 2 to 7 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 19, after 11 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Monday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in East Cemetery (Pleasant Ridge Cemetery) near Fredonia.
Officiants: The Revs. Mark Lemon, Bob Nuchols and Doug Cox.
Pallbearers: His grandsons.
