Virgil T. Jawtak, 84, Lanesville, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at his home.
Born June 5, 1933, in Lanesville, he was the son of the late Broneslaw and Lula Williams Jawtak.
He was a farmer, a construction worker for Bowen Engineers of Indianapolis and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville, Indiana Farm Bureau, the Lanesville Heritage Committee, Local No. 795 Carpenter’s Union, Indiana State Police Alliance and Indiana Sheriff’s Association.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Katherine Gleitz.
Survivors include two sisters, Lula Mae Hiser of Elizabeth and Bernice Schickel of Lanesville.
Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Lanesville with burial in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Virgil T. and Mary Jawtak Scholarship Fund at Indiana University.
