Virgil A. Riggs Jr.

Virgil A. Riggs Jr., 46, Central, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at his home.
Born Feb. 7, 1971, in Corydon, he was the son of Mary J. Johnson Basham of Corydon and the late Virgil A. Riggs Sr.
He was the owner of Riggs Trucking, Riggs Backhoe Service, Riggs Towing, Riggs Small Engines and Riggs Auction House, was formerly employed at the Harrison County Highway Dept. and at Hydro-Tech in Jeffersonville and was a member of the Heth Township Volunteer Fire Dept. for more than 10 years.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert McNabb and Terry Riggs, and a sister, Pamela Eshelman.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 16 years, the former April Sue Blevens; two sons, Everett Daniel Wilfong of Corydon and Collin Wade Riggs of Central; a daughter, Autumn Marie Wilfong of Greenville; a grandson, Zane Aalexander Prario; two brothers, Shawn Mosier (Lisa) of Brandenburg and Eric Riggs (Heidi) of Guston, Ky.; four sisters, Barbara Gauntlett (David) of Gold Beach, Ore., Erwi Sue Eshelman and Virgilene Weatherly (Lawrence), both of Corydon, and Brenda Gail Raley of Brandenburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 24, from noon to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 24, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in the New Amsterdam Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Randy Johnson.
Pallbearers: Gary Hottle, Rick Reed, Dave Neal, Charlie Berryman, Stanley Kingsley and Donnie Sutherland.
Honorary pallbearers: Larry Shireman, Glenn Sauerheber, Franklin Heishman, Michael Heishman, Gerald Wayne Jacobs, Charles Tindall Jr. and Billy McCloskey.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Heth Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
