Bruce D. Thompson

Bruce Dennis Thompson Sr., 83, Corydon, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, in Ellisville, Mo.
Born Nov. 1, 1934, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Robert Lester and Josephine Hefferman Thompson.
He was a 1952 graduate of Flaget High School in Louisville, a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy, the owner and operator of Davis Drug Store in Corydon for more than 25 years and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Marie Orwick.
Survivors include his wife 61 years, the former Mary Lord; a son, Bruce Dennis (Denny) Thompson Jr. (Terri) of Wildwood, Mo.; a daughter, Sherry Noon of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; a son-in-law, William Isaac Orwick Sr. of Floyds Knobs; a sister, Marilyn Stengel of Louisville; seven grandchildren, William Isaac Jr., Andrew (Jenna) and Max Orwick, E.J., Marc (Amy) and Molly Noon and Bruce Dennis Thompson III; and two great-grandchildren, William Isaac Orwick III and Ryan Elkins.
Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 4, from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 5, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, both in Corydon.
Celebrant: Father Rob Hankee.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the hospice of the donor’s choice.
