Arthur R. Timberlake
Arthur Ray Timberlake, 84, Mauckport, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at his home.
Born March 2, 1933, in Mauckport, he was the son of the late Floyd Edward Timberlake and Mary Alliene Ripperdan Timberlake Schneider.
He and his father started the Pilot Wheel Ranch in 1945, raising registered Polled Hereford cattle and exhibiting at several county fairs, Indiana and Kentucky State shows and 31 consecutive years at the Indiana State Fair and 29 years at the Kentucky State Fair. Throughout the years, those cattle were sold in 13 states and Canada. Arthur showed at the Harrison County Fair for the first time in 1951 at the age of 18. He judged purebred cattle shows across the country. He served 42 years for the Federal Land Bank and Farm Credit Services of Mid-America, was a founding member and president of the Corydon Jaycees, served as a National Polled Hereford Association Director from 1971 to 1977, including at the very first National Junior. Polled Hereford show in 1974, was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association, the Indiana Hereford Association and the Kentucky Hereford Association, was a founder of the Indiana Pollette and Indiana Junior Polled Hereford Association, was a member of Mauckport United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran, who served as supply sergeant in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, the former Kathryn Eschbacher; a daughter, Alice Cornelia Hayse (Scott); two grandsons, Brian Austin and Luke Elliott Hayse; three brothers-in-law, Buck Eschbacher (Irma), Andy Eschbacher (Karen) and Donnie Eschbacher (Teresa); eight nieces and nephews, Natalie Ward (Craig), Preston Eschbacher, Kyle Eschbacher, Brandon Eschbacher, Scott Decker (Kelly), Bridgett West (RJ), John Eschbacher (Abbie) and Savannah Clem (Ethan); nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 16, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Mauckport Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Steve Arnold.
Pallbearers: Dale Kottkamp, Kyle, Brandon and John Eschbacher, Craig Ward, Ethan Clem, Scott Decker and RJ West.
Honorary pallbearers: Preston Eschbacher, Ralph Sherman, Gary Ripperdan and Billy Curts.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Harrison County 4-H or the Mauckport Cemetery Fund.
