SH board approves compensation, master contract
Base salaries for building and district administrators in the South Harrison Community School Corp. will increase by $825 for the 2017-18 contract period after approval at the Nov. 7 school board meeting. And, an increase of $750 is possible for the 2018-19 contract period if certain requirements are met.
The board also approved compensating teachers, as well as district and building administrators, who are left out of the Teacher Appreciation Grant in an amount consistent with compensation received by teachers who are recognized under the grant.
A master contract between the South Harrison Community School Corp. and the South Harrison Education Association was approved for the period of July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2019.
Sales agreements were reached between Corydon Intermediate and Corydon Central Junior High schools with Lifetouch Studios for pictures during the 2018-19 school year. Heth-Washington and New Middletown Elementary schools signed agreements with Interstate Studios for next school year.
Ivy Tech Community College will continue to work with Corydon Central and South Central High schools with their dual-credit programs after signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2017-18 school year.

Corporation ‘ resignations of Mary Smith as food service coordinator and Vicki Reed as preschool bus aid and approval of Shirley Rhodes as preschool bus aide.
Harrison County Exceptional Learners Co-op ‘ approval of Ki Sallee as homebound instructor.
Corydon Central High ‘ resignations of Sara Tucker as an instructional assistant and Michael Uhl as boys’ varsity tennis coach; approval of Kayla Uhl as freshmen girls’ basketball coach and Kelsey Rogers as boys’/girls’ assistant volunteer swim coach; and leave of absence for teacher Megann Apple.
Corydon Central Junior High ‘ approval of Eric Emerson as activities supervisor and resignation of Shannon Yonkers as instructional assistant.
Corydon Intermediate ‘ leave of absence for teachers Audrey Ehlers and Shelby Moser; approval of Jacquelyn Benkowski as temporary teacher; and resignations of Kenneth Fisher as custodian and Elisa Chavez as instructional assistant.
Corydon Elementary ‘ resignation of Sherryl Elias as instructional assistant and approval of Mary Anderson as preschool instructional assistant.
Heth-Washington Elementary ‘ approval of Danny Jones as music instructional assistant.
South Central Junior-Senior High ‘ approval of Brittany Ort as freshman girls’ basketball coach.
South Central Elementary/Junior High ‘ approval of James Kost as volunteer assistant basketball coach.
In other business, the school board approved Boyce/Komputrol for disaster recovery; approved consortium membership in the Indiana Teacher Appraisal and Support System; approved American Fidelity Assurance Co. and First Harrison Bank as administrators of employees’ contributions to health savings accounts; accepted a grant of up to $73,466 for the dual-credit program from the Harrison County Community Foundation; approved course offerings and curricular materials for the dual-credit program for the current school year; approved the memorandum of understanding for Corydon Central High School’s dual-credit program with Ivy Tech Community College for this school year; approved the use of facilities for pool-lane rental with the YMCA of Harrison County for the 2017-18 swim season; accepted a grant of $250 for a community service project from GenerationOn Indiana; approved an overnight field trip in May for sixth graders to Cincinnati.
The school board’s next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
