L. Helen Martin

L. Helen Martin, 94, Rockville, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Clinton Union Hospital.
Born April 9, 1923, in Ramsey, she was the daughter of the late Arvel I. and Cora Martin.
She earned her master’s degree in music education from Indiana University and taught for 34 years in Redlands, Fla., Mooresville and New Castle. After retiring, she moved to St. James City, Fla., and was active with Sweet Adeline’s Women’s Chorus and also played in many small folk music groups in the Fort Myers, Fla., area. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Allean Sappenfield.
Survivors include a brother, Hugh, and many nephews and nieces, including Sue North, who was her primary caregiver.
Arrangements: Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville. Cremation was chosen.
