Charles D. VanMeter

Charles D. VanMeter, 97, Marengo, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation ‘ Harrison in Corydon.
Born Feb. 24, 1920, in Marengo, he was the son of the late Wallace and Mollie Scott VanMeter.
He was the former owner and operator of the Van’s Restaurant in Marengo, an Army veteran having served during World War II and a member of Marengo Christian Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Scott VanMeter.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, the former Janiece E. Seacat; two sons, Scott W. VanMeter of Marengo and Dean M. VanMeter of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Michael Scott and Jason Hamilton VanMeter, Crystal Bullington and Chase VanMeter; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 27, after 9 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.
Funeral: Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Union Chapel Cemetery near Milltown.
Officiant: Brother Jason VanMeter.
Casket bearers: Michael and Chase VanMeter, James Bullington, Eddie Rothrock, Chris Schneider and Tyler Troutman.
