Thelma Lee Voyles, 96, Palmyra, formerly of Floyd County, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at her home.
Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Bullitt County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Emerson.
She served as organist for Palmyra Baptist Church for 31 years and formerly worked at the Charlestown Powder plant, Voyles Store in Palmyra as a clerk, Bata Shoe Co. in Salem and M. Fines & Son in New Albany before retiring.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carl N. Voyles; five brothers, Charles, Jesse, Melvin, Irvin and John Emerson; and two sisters, Mary Lee Emerson and Emma Emerson Love.
Survivors include three sons, John, Jim and Bob Voyles; a sister, Betty Kain (Ed) of Georgetown; a brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Love of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 25, after 9 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.
Funeral: Monday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Palmyra Cemetery.
