Kermit V. Hays, 85, Muncie, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at Elmcroft Senior Living.
Born April 2, 1932, in Mauckport, he was the son of the late Orlin and Ethel Hays.
He graduated from Mauckport High School, earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University, served in the Air Force and, with his wife, owned and operated Hays Beauty Supply for several years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rotary and Muncie Club, a long-time member of Cardinal Varsity Club and a supporter of Ball State University athletics.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Ellen Keller, on Jan. 4, 2014; a son, Mark Hays; a daughter, Karen Hays-Ogle; four brothers, Wilbur, Wayne, Earl and Clyde Hays; and a sister, Mabel Fried.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Mark Ogle, Lauren Ogle and Sarah Ogle, all of Muncie; a son-in-law, Doug Ogle of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, in Muncie.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Officiant: Father Andrew Dudzinski.
