Patricia C. Merk
Patricia Cecilia Merk, 71, Mauckport, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born March 18, 1946, in Joliet, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Camden and Mary Vail Kent.
She was a teacher, with her husband, of Natural Family Planning for many years, was employed with the Purdue University Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program to provide nutrition for low-income families, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, where she also was a member of the resurrection choir, the National Council of Catholic Women and the Mauckport Club of Harrison County Extension Homemakers.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Farley, and an infant brother.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Merk; a son, Brendan Paul Merk (Miranda Todd) of New Albany; two daughters, Joy Marie Polk of Indianapolis and Malia Louise Glotzbach (Bryan) of New Albany; five grandchildren, Caroline and Nathan Merk, Emma and Jackson Todd and Gabriel Glotzbach; two brothers, Joseph Kent (Mary Lou) of Illinois and Camden Kent Jr. (Anne) of Alabama; and three sisters, Beth Hatzitheorodorou (Manny) and Andrea Nester, both of Florida, and Mary Ann Collins (Michael) of Pennsylvania.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 20, from noon to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 2, and Friday, July 21, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Friday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery near Mauckport.
Officiant: Father Robert Hankee.
