Wiseman captures Junior golf championship
Playing during the Fourth of July week, Joey Wiseman turned in a pair of explosive rounds to capture the Indiana Golf Foundation Junior Program’s Age Group Championship.
Competing against other 16-year-old boys, Wiseman attacked the 36-hole event held at The Golf Club at Swan Lake Resort located in Plymouth in northern Indiana.
Playing the Black Course, Wiseman’s first round, played on July 5, saw the Corydon Central junior-to-be fire a 5-under par 67. As if that round wasn’t good enough, Wiseman went one shot lower the next day, posting a 6-under 66. His two-day total on the par-72 course was 133 (-11). He was four strokes lower than runner-up Peyton Snoeberger of Williamsport.
Withing Wiseman’s scorecard, he posted seven birdies during his first round, along with nine pars. On day two, Wiseman threw in an eagle on No. 15 while also carding six birdies. Overall, he took first place with a total of 13 birdies and one eagle. Only four holes out of the 36 saw Wiseman card one-over par.
