Pease 7th at USA Outdoor Championships
Sarah Pease, a former South Central Junior-Senior High School standout, competed at the United States of America Track and Field Outdoor Championships last week in Sacramento, Calif.
Taking part in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, Pease turned in a seventh-place finish, running a time of 9:47.41 during Saturday’s final.
In the preliminary a few days prior, Pease qualified for the final with a fifth-place finish in her heat, going around Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium track and steeplechase barriers in 9:48.65.
The overall winner was American steeplechase record-holder Emma Colburn (9:20.28) followed by Courtney Frerichs (9:22.23). Both represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Pease, a former Indiana University All-American, has put together a solid 2017. In February, the Bloomington resident won the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, Ala., with a time of 2:41.45. Earlier this month, Pease raced to third place in her season’s best steeple time of 9:43.33 at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, Tenn.
