Esther D. Coffman
Esther D. Coffman, 83, Corydon, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
Born June 11, 1934, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late John Robert and Charlotte Miller Hoback.
She was a retired assistant vice president in charge of personnel at Chase Bank in Charlestown and at the old Corydon State Bank in Corydon, was formerly employed at the old Dream Theatre and Hurst Miles Hardware Store, both in Corydon, and was a member of Corydon Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dallas Hoback; two sisters, Dollie Mae Hoback and Betty Crawford; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Shumaker.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, David A. Coffman; a son, Dennis R. Coffman of Jeffersonville; three grandsons, Jason Coffman (Amanda) of Elizabeth and Michael Coffman (Lindsay) and David Coffman (Hannah), both of New Albany; two brothers, Bobby Hoback (Dianne) of Clarksville and John Hoback (Shannon) of Mauckport; four sisters, Becky Shumaker and Barbara Smith (Jim), both of Corydon, Shirley Welman (Carl) of Jeffersonville and Carolyn Hofmann (Lawrence) of Palmyra; two brothers-in-law, Stanley Coffman (Linda) of Corydon and Ernie Crawford of Louisville; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation: Monday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 20, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: Pastor Donnie Whitlow.
Pallbearers: Jason, Michael and David Coffman, Lawrence Hofmann, Ernie Crawford, Carl Welman, Ralph Wiseman and Jim Smith.
