Billy J. Hollingsworth
Billy Joe Hollingsworth, 91, Corydon, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home near Corydon.
Born Aug. 12, 1925, in Knox County, he was the son of the late Isaac Lee and Opal Carrico Hollingsworth.
He was a retired food inspector for the USDA in Louisville, a member of the Alton American Legion Post No. 133 and an Army Air Force veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Earlene Bond Hollingsworth, and four sisters, Virginia Lane, Betty Lou Hollingsworth, Catherine Sue Lemme and Opal Marie Bland.
Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Ann Penwell Cano; two sons, Earl Lee (Butch) Hollingsworth (Judy) of Dallas and Billy B. Hollingsworth (Darcy) of Corydon; two daughters, Becky Jo Hollingsworth and Sara Jane Lynch, both of Corydon; a stepson, Roy Cano (Roberta) of St. Louis; three stepdaughters, Cecelia McGaha (Steve) of Louisville, Carol Hendry (Quentin) of Atlanta, Ga., and Judy Meredith of Lancaster, Ky.; a brother, Lloyd Ellis Hollingsworth (Theora) of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, June 4, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 5, after 10 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Monday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at funeral home.
Officiant: The Rev. Randy Kirk.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Boys Town.
