James N. Ruoff

James N. Ruoff, 76, Palmyra, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at his home.
Born July 14, 1940, in New Albany, he was the son of Walter Ruoff and Thelma Kopp Ruoff Hollowell.
He was a Navy veteran, serving as a radioman from 1957 to 1961 and served aboard the USS Lansing, with a crew that helped develop search-and-recovery techniques for radioactive contaminated objects at sea. He was a retired truck driver with the Kroger Louisville regional warehouse and a member of Teamsters Local 89.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ruoff, and three siblings, Gary (Butch) and Dennis Ruoff and Judy Hollowell.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Willa Mae Fouts; two sons, Roy Ruoff (Marcia) and Donald Ruoff (Jennifer); two daughters, Connie Egle (Greg) and Cindy Phieler (Steven); three brothers, Jack Hollowell (Regina), Gary Hollowell (Vicki) and David Ruoff (Patty); four sisters, Jane Mattox (Dick), Janice Eurton, Judy Brumback and Reva Bruner (Steve); three grandchildren, Steven Ruoff (Leia), Clinton Ruoff (Roxanne) and Katie Kruer (Kyle); and three great-grandchildren, Jake Ruoff, Isabella Ruoff and Skyler Kruer.
Visitation: Thursday, May 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 12, after 9 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.
Funeral: Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. the funeral home with burial in Palmyra Cemetery.
