Bruce Fairfax Corby, 68, Lanesville, died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 28, 1948, in Pewee Valley, Ky., he was the son of the late Charles and Joyce Fairfax Corby.
He was a 1966 graduate of Clarksville High School, an Army veteran having served in the Army Security Agency from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War, retired as vice president from Hall Contracting Corp. in 2004 after a 33-year career, served on the executive board of directors of Right to Life of Southern Indiana and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, previously serving as chairman on the board of elders and president of the congregation.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Peyton Corby.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, the former Doris A. Flint; five sisters, Mary Lynn Corby, Donna Barrett, Paula Corby, Alice Willis (Randy) and Beth Hutton (Danny); 17 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and great-nephews; and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Memorial service: Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Lanesville with military honors and a celebration luncheon to follow. Burial will be private.
