Wiseman shoots 74 at Fuzzy Invitational
Corydon Central’s Joey Wiseman made his post-season debut at the high school level at Covered Bridge Golf Club a season ago, placing fifth overall as a freshman. His play at the course near Sellersburg resulted in qualifying for the regional round.
Back for his sophomore season, Wiseman, along with Panthers’ teammates and North Harrison, tackled a talented field at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational on Saturday. On the same Covered Bridge course, Wiseman finished his 18-hole round with a 2-over par 74.
The score put Wiseman in a tie alongside Bloomington South’s Joe Weiler on the leaderboard. Weiler, however, was determined the overall medalist based on scorecard tie-breaker.
On the front nine, Wiseman played the course 1-under par, knocking in birdies on holes No. 2 and 6. Wiseman ended the day with 12 pars to go with two birds.
Within the team scores, Weiler’s Bloomington South was the lowest squad with a 317 combined score. Brett Knorr added a 79 to aid No. 6-ranked Bloomington South. Jeffersonville (327) was second, while Madison (333) was third.
As a team, Corydon Central placed 11th with a 385, followed by North Harrison (437).
The Panthers saw Jarrett Alcorn contribute a 98, carding three pars. Also shooting for Corydon Central were Chris Carroll (102), Ben Johnson (111) and Cameron Beuchele (130).
