The Rev. Robert O. (Pastor Bob) Shepherd, 79, Clarksville, formerly of Corydon, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.
Born June 4, 1937, in Laconia, he was the son of the late Owen M. Shepherd and Frances Rice Shepherd.
He attended Asbury University, the University of Louisville and Olivet Nazarene University and graduated from Liberty University. He worked for Granger Co. for 22 years, for Anaconda Aluminum for 13 years and for Eckart Supply Co. for six years. His ministry spanned 40-plus years, serving as senior pastor of Parkwood Church of the Nazarene for 22 years, senior pastor in both Nazarene and United Methodist churches throughout Indiana, including Wesley Chapel UMC at Valley City, Marengo Christian’s Missionary Church, Milltown Church of the Nazarene, Georgetown Church of the Nazarene and Silver Street UMC.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, the former Marilyn Kay Albin; two sons-in-law, David Pierce and Roger Kintner; and a step-daughter, Lisa Keys.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sharon R. Irick; four daughters, Malinda J. Lee (Larry), Samone D. Kintner, Lesa M. Cunningham (Jeff) and Stephanie D. Smith (John); two sons, Greg Taylor (Sharon) and Bret Taylor (Theresa); 10 grandchildren, Denise Olsen (Larry), Shawn Lee (Hope), Brandy Jo Green, Roberta Dixon (Jesse), Shawn Taylor (Nicole), Daniel Taylor, Crystal Warth, Travis Taylor, Travis Keys and Molly Keys; a sister, Elaine Snyder (Carl); a brother-in-law, Ed Irick; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Kintner, Abigail Woertz, Gunner Lee, Alice Mae Lee, Ava Poole, Mia Taylor and Logan Warth; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 28, after 9 a.m. at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with entombment in Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
