Helen Tower Ridge, 91, Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Born April 19, 1925, in Leavenworth, she was the daughter of the late Claude (C.D.) and Edna Stephenson Tower.
She was retired from the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, was a founding member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth and was a member of the Leavenworth Senior Citizens, the Order of the Eastern Star Old Capitol Chapter No. 467 in Corydon and the Friendly Neighbors Extension Homemakers near Leavenworth.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Ray Ridge Sr.; a son, Donald S. Ridge; a grandson, Frederick (Rick) Ridge III; a great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace Bowers; five brothers, James (Jim Ed), Thomas, John, Paul and Claude Tower Jr.; and four sisters, Dorothy Ewing, Jane Stonecipher, Mary Gibson and Betty Rose Tower.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick Ray Ridge Jr., M.D. (Bille) of Linton and Stanley A. Ridge (Mary) of Sulphur; a daughter, Sharon Kay Broughton (Robert) of Marengo; a daughter-in-law, Leah Ann Ridge of Marysville; two sisters, Margaret Booth of Leavenworth and Ruth Reschar of Pinellas Park, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Timothy W. Ridge, Andrea Alltop, William Ridge (Andrea), Amanda Brinson (Richard), Megan Timberlake (Whitney), Edna Campbell (Jason), Kimberly Broughton-Miller (Cyle), Paul Broughton (Wendy) and Chad Smith (Monie); 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and Saturday, Jan. 28, after 11 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Leavenworth Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Tim and William Ridge, Paul Broughton, Kyle Insignares, Richard Brinson, Cyle and Blaine Miller, Shan-Michael Bowers, Riley Alltop and Whitney Timberlake.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Community Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth.
