Alvin E. Green

Alvin E. Green, 82, Marengo, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville.
Born July 17, 1934, in Marengo, he was the son of the late Collin Greene and Lula Crawford Carroll.
He was a Marine veteran, having served in Korea, and a member of Tunnel Hill Church near English.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Reynolds and Lou Ann Jones.
Survivors include a son, Jonathan I. Green of Jasper; two brothers, Clarence VanWinkle of New Albany and James Carroll; three sisters, Geneva Thompson of Marengo, Oneida Cook of Indianapolis and Carol Longest of Paoli; and a niece who cared for him, Diana Conrad of Marengo.
Memorial service: Sunday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown with interment in Goodman Ridge Cemetery near Marengo.
