Floyd girls finish 11th at state finals
Floyd Central junior cross country runner Faith Barba had not had a good post-season in this year’s state cross country run. At the Crawford County Sectional, she took a spill and did not finish. However, she made up for all of that at Saturday’s state finals in Terre Haute, running No. 1 for the Lady Highlanders, who finished 11th with 312 points in the final team standings.
Barba covered the 5,000 meters in a time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds, finishing 47th individually. Teammate Kyley Sorg, who had finished second in the sectional and regional and ninth at the semi-state, placed 68th in a time of 19:51.7.
Lillian Pierce finished 104th for the Lady Highlanders in a time of 20:22.3, and Erica Batliner was 111th in 20:27.8. Chloe Loftus, a freshman, finished 123rd in a time 20:34.2, while senior Morgan Paul ran her last high school cross country race in 21 minutes, 20.6 seconds for 165th place.
