Thelma Walts

Thelma Avery Walts, 94, Danville, formerly of Georgetown, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 16, 1922, in Wayne City, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Arthur D. and Dorsa M. Faulkner Avery.
She was a 1939 graduate of Georgetown High School and the New Albany School of Business. Thelma was a former bookkeeper for the Georgetown Telephone Co. She was a piano teacher, a pianist at Georgetown Christian Church, where she was a member, and a 75-year member of the Georgetown Order of the Eastern Star Chapter.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles D. Walts, on Oct. 19, 2004.
Survivors include three children, Greg Walts (Wanda) of Avon, Allen Walts of New Albany and LuAnn Weed (Jerry) of Danville; four grandchildren, Christina Campbell (John) of Speedway, Eric Walts (Shannon) of Monrovia and Erin Truelsen (Christopher) and Michael Weed (Kimberly), both of Avon; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville.
Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside service: Friday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at Wolfe Cemetery.
