James Alltop Jr.
James (Jim) Howard Alltop Jr., 84, formerly of Phoenix, died Monday, July 4, 2016, in Sun City West, Ariz.
Born April 26, 1932, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late J. Howard Alltop Sr. and Lillian O’Bannon Alltop, formerly of Corydon.
He was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, where he lettered in football, basketball and track, and a 1954 graduate of Indiana University, served two years in the Air Force, worked for the Valley National Bank of Arizona for 32 years, retiring in 1989 as director of human resources, and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Phoenix, where he taught an adult Bible study class for more than 20 years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William O. Alltop.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Margaret (Peggy) Joan Wefler; three sons, David, Stephen and Robert; and seven grandchildren.
Interment: Friday, Aug. 5, in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
